Red Dead Redemption to air on Fox

Red Dead Redemption, for those that don't already know, is a sequel to Rockstar Games (producer of the Grand Theft Auto series) Red Dead Revolver. It is a western tale that would feel at home any any Sergio Leone directed film. It has had quite the marketing push behind it, and many are excited to become their own version of Clint Eastwood including the writer of this blog!

Now word has it that using only in game assets, which means using exactly what you will see while playing the game, they are creating a half hour special to premier on Fox May 15. This promises not to be some shoddy thrown together cutscene fest, and they even brought on a real director, John Hillcoat (2009's The Road) to helm this unprecedented event. The process of animation by using media such as a video game is called machinama, and has been used countless times before but never to this extent.

So a couple days prior to the release of the actual Red Dead Redemption anybody with basic TV in the U.S. will be able to watch how wild the West really was. This might be one of the longest commercials for a video game in the history of ever but Rockstar hopes wet your appetite for some good old fashioned Wild West fun!

Nota Bene: I am really excited about this game to the point that it really isn't funny. I just can't wait to horse-jack somebody!
