The Amityville Horror ('05) Blu in September

Source: HighDef Disc News

The Michael "Awesome!" Bay produced 2005 remake of The Amityville Horror is getting the combo Blu-ray/DVD treatment September 14th.

The horror ("Based on a true story") begins when a family moves into an old house that was the location of some heinous murders, and before long some evil force begins terrorizing them out of their wits. Classic.

The Amityville Horror has a pretty solid cast with the likes of Ryan Reynolds, Rachel Nichols (G.I. Joe) and Mellissa George (30 Days of Night) that are constantly scared beejeebusless by various ghosts, ghouls and poltergeists.

No word on special features as of yet but we won't let them sneak up on you! Stay tuned!

Dead Space 2 in January

Dead Space 2

Source: Kotaku

Did you experience the first Dead Space game?

I did, and I can vividly recount my first experience with the SciFi horror/first person shooter. It was well past midnight, it was a Tuesday so the dorms were pretty dead but the Dead Space Dismemberment Demo had just finished d-loading to my PS3. What would follow was two hours of screaming like a little girl while repeatedly playing the 10 minute demo.

Owned!

Well I may get to re-experience that magic when Dead Space 2 hits shelves January 25th next year.

The sequel, that is still in production, is looking pretty damn awesome. For fans of the first game these pictures will raise all sorts of questions, but we will have to wait a while before these queries will be answered.

BEHIND YOU!!!

Zero G's

Say hello to my little glowy friend!

Hurry up January! I got me some alien monsters to decapitate!

Hatchet Blu in September

Source: HighDef Disc News

Have you experienced Hatchet?Add Image

Writer/director Adam Green's 2007 horror flick has it all; copious violence, thrills, chills, gratuitous T&A and just the right comedic tone to make what would otherwise just be another hardcore slasher something more enjoyable.

On September 7th the unrated director's cut of Hatchet will be available on Blu-ray so you can see the blood spattered gore in all of its 1080p glory. This Blu-ray release will have all of the extras from the old DVD plus a whole new commentary featuring writer/director Green and the slasher Mr. Crowley himself; Kane Hodder.

Extras Include:

  • All new commentary track with director Adam Green and actor Kane Hodder
  • Original audio commentary with Adam Green, Co-Producer/Cinematographer Will Barratt and Actors Tamara Feldman, Joel David Moore and Deon Richmond
  • The Making of Hatchet
  • Meeting Victor Crowley: An in-depth look at the creation of a new horror icon
  • Guts & Gore: Go behind the scenes of Hatchet’s special makeup and prosthetic effects
  • Anatomy of a Kill: Witness the “jaw-breaking” birth, design and execution of a death scene
  • A Twisted Tale: Adam Green recounts his decades-long friendship with “Twisted Sister” front man Dee Snider
  • Gag Reel
  • Theatrical Trailer

This is all happening just before the release of Hatchet 2 in October, coincidence? I think not!

Jacob's Ladder Blu in September

Adrian Lyne's (Fatal Attraction) psychological horror Jacob's Ladder is getting a Blu-ray release come September 14th.

The film, which stars Tim Robbins as the titular Jacob, as a increasingly delusional soldier in Vietnam desperately clinging to his memories to ward off the insanity that surrounds him. Jacob battles the North Vietnamese, Army experiments and above all else his own past in this haunting film that while not pleasant it is at least poignant. Woah ... I sounded like a critic there!

Announced Extras Include:

  • Director Commentary
  • Deleted Scenes
  • The Making of Jacob's Ladder
  • Theatrical Trailer
