The Future is Blu

Source: Blu-ray.com

Hey Butthead, your shoes untied! And your Delorean's wheels are on fire!

It has been a long time coming, but the Back to the Future trilogy is finally getting a, oh so deserving, Blu-ray release! There aren't a lot of details yet as it is just an announcement that it is on the way. No further specs or even a release date as of yet, but as I am sure you are all aware this year is the 25th anniversary of the time-travelling duo of Doc Brown and Marty McFly's first adventure, so it would stand to reason that sometime this year would be optimal.

So kick the tires and double clutch it, 88 miles till we're history!

Nota Bene: There are a lot of memorable quotes from the series, but my favorite has to be Doc Brown who nonchalantly drops this classic; "If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits eighty-eight miles per hour... you're gonna see some serious shit."

Old Movie - New Trailers

Source: Blu-ray.com

You enjoy starting up the old VCR or DVD player and before watching the feature flick watching some old movie trailers? I did sometimes while other times I was busy making popcorn. The days of outdated previews may be coming to a close thanks to a feature available on a growing number of Blu-ray discs.

Christened "Pre-Roll Technology" by Deluxe Digital Studios, using BD Live, have already streamed 8 million new movie trailers to Blu-ray players. It may have already happened to you, possibly without you realizing it. The new content is slipped in seamlessly after the disc is loaded into the player. While Universal Studios was the first to adopt this marketing tool with releases such as Funny People and Public Enemies but it should spread like wildfire to more discs and likely more studios. Deluxe Digital predicts upwards of 25 million new trailers by the end of 2010.

Nota Bene: I am going to kind of miss re-discovering old movies by watching the trailers on old movies. It was almost like divine intervention when it happened.
